‘Books on the Move’ and ‘Joy of Toys’ Campaign

October 2021

OSKVI joined OSK Foundation in a preloved books and toys donation drive at Plaza OSK during the year. The pre-loved books collected were donated to Books on the Move which will be circulated free of charge to community libraries in KL Gateway Mall, the LINC KL, and Paradigm Mall. BOTM is a global book sharing movement to get people reading on their daily commutes and to help increase literacy within the urban community.

Five boxes of pre-loved toys were donated to Toy Libraries Malaysia, which has set up the SS3 Creative Hub in Petaling Jaya. The non-profit hub provides drop-off space for preloved toys and children’s books, as well as a community toy library. All donated items from the public were channeled to toy libraries set up in both urban and rural areas to benefit children from underprivileged communities.

Sharing the Gifts of Hope during Diwali

13 November 2020

The Gifts of Hope ("GOH"), a signature programme of OSKF, reaches out to the less fortunate to celebrate major festive events with them, to share the joy of togetherness, while contributing cash and in-kind donations to support their daily needs. OSKVI shared some festive cheer with children and young adults in Pertubuhan Kebajikan Yesuvin Mahligai (YM), Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Istimewa Lagenda, and Rumah Kebajikan Karunai Illam ahead of the Deepavali festive celebration. Although no physical activities were carried out due to Conditional MCO during that time, we delivered our grocery contributions together with those from OSKF and OSK Group employees.

OSKians Visited Palliative Home in Conjunction with CNY Celebration

24 January 2020

OSK Foundation ("OSKF") volunteers through our Gifts of Hope programme visited Pertubuhan Kebajikan Rumah Kasih Jing Yuan just a week before the Lunar New Year to bring cheer to the home's residents. The home, which provides free accommodation and medical care for underprivileged patients with serious disability and/or life-limiting conditions, currently houses 26 patients at two different premises in Setapak and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

We brought along with us items donated by OSKians and Plaza OSK tenant including Milo, wet wipes, antiseptic liquid and shower liquid (a big thank you to everyone!). During the visit, volunteers spent time with the residents making craft lanterns, followed by a karaoke singing session that included well-known and evergreen Chinese New Year songs.

The mood was further enlivened when the God of Prosperity turned up and gave out mandarin oranges to the residents, followed by a sumptuous lunch. It was a rewarding and heart-warming experience when we saw the residents expressing their appreciation with a broad smile on their faces.

For them, the visit was not about the red angpow packets or our contribution, but about the care and attention they received at this time of the year when many are celebrating Chinese New Year with friends and family. OSKF also made a cash contribution to support the operational expenditure of the home.
