Ideation is the process of generating and developing new ideas to solve a problem or improve a product, process, or service. OSK Ventures International (OSKVI) and HELP University’s Ideation Competition 2018 is looking to challenge students to pitch their entrepreneurial ideas to provide solutions for everyday problems.

Application opens from 9th April 2018 and ends on 15th May 2018


Q1: Who is eligible to participate?

A1: Any 2017/2018 HELP University undergraduate students and graduate students are eligible to participate.

Q2: Can I submit my idea individually?

A2: Participation MUST be in a team of a minimum of 2 participants and up to maximum of 5 members.

Q3: Can I join more than 1 team if I have more than 1 idea, and how many?

A3: A participant can be a member of up to 2 teams and a team can ONLY submit a maximum of 2 ideas.

Q4: Is the competition only open to certain industries or ideas?

A4: All businesses and ideas within the technology, non-technology and/or social enterprise industries are welcomed to participate and will be judged on the originality and merit.

Q5: My idea is for a non-profit entity. Can I participate?

A5: All original businesses/ideas are eligible to participate and will be judged based on the proposal received and if shortlisted, a presentation before a panel of judges.

Q6: What is the prize?

A6: Ideation Competition awards a total of 5 cash prizes up to RM22,000.

Q7: How many rounds before the team can go to the final?

A7: Shortlisted teams will be invited to the first pitching session with a panel of judges. Thereafter, the finalists will be invited to attend a boot camp, followed by a final pitching session with the panel of judges.

Q8: How will the pitch process work?

A8: Teams will each have 15 minutes to pitch, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A with the judges.

Q9: Will teams be disqualified if they do not/unable to attend the boot camp?

A9: Yes, teams will be disqualified.

Q10: Will the shortlisted teams’ performance be assessed in the boot camp?

A10: No, teams will not be assessed during the boot camp other than attendance.

Q11: How do I register?

A11: Registration can be done online at this link [Application form]. Submission of idea must be accompanied with a link to the project presentation saved in pdf.

Q12: Can I submit a video for the online application?

A12: Yes you may. However, this will be considered in addition to your project presentation file which is mandatory.

Q13: Is there an application fee?

A13: No, there is no fee to apply.

Q14: When can we submit our application?

A14: Teams can submit the application anytime from 9 April 2018 until 5pm Malaysian time 15 May 2018.

A15: This is your opportunity to learn what it takes to turn an idea into a business, potentially showcase your business venture in a pitch competition, and network with advisors and mentors.
